OmniTest Texture Analyzer
Universal Software-controlled texture tester

OmniTest Texture Analyzer 2.5 kN automated texture testing system with PC
PC -driven
PC -driven

The OmniTest Texture Analyzer is a flagship texture analysis instrument, for texture applications that require precise force, position and speed control. The PC-driven model has the flexibility to run the test routines on your choice of computer hardware.

This benchtop software-controlled system evaluate the mechanical properties of foods and other solid/semi-solid products that are judged by the end consumer by their physical sensory characteristics. These attributes relate to the sense of touch. Tactile interaction with the mouth or hands enable the customer to make a judgement on the quality of the product's texture.

Fitted with a suitable interchangeable fixture, the system replicates the natural kinaesthetic interaction (from biting to squeezing) and the results quantify the established texture profile attributes that correlate to mouthfeel, influencing perceived quality.

VectorPro software controls the OmniTest Texture Analyzer, via a connected PC, to apply the forces on the test sample, acquires the data and automatically calculates the results which correlate to the correct physical organoleptic sensory qualities. Peak forces, average forces, work can all be calculated from the graphical results to indicate the essential texture quality attributes of the sample material.

Overview

The OmniTest and OmniTest Touch Texture Analyzers make quality control testing in a production or laboratory environment a much simpler task, at an affordable price.

You can quickly determine the textural properties of bakery products, cereals, confectionary, snacks, dairy, fruit, vegetables, meat (or meat-free alternatives) and so much more. Pharma and cosmetic products such as creams and lotions can also be evaluated for their kinaesthetic feel on the hands.

The PC-driven model has the flexibility to run the test routines on your choice of computer hardware. The standalone Touch model is configured with a touchscreen console that requires minimal operator training. Tests can be performed at the touch of a button, to instantly determine consistent standards within the raw or finished product, saving you time and money.

Software

Both models are controlled by our state-of-the-art VectorPro software, enabling testing in all food science applications. OmniTest systems deliver consistency and reliability by controlling the key test parameters of force/displacement and speed/load rate to apply load to your test specimen. Data is collected at high speed and calculations are performed on the data as required by your specific test standard. The powerful and intuitive VectorPro environment allows you to access in-built texture profile calculations and a whole host of other testing characteristics, for example packaging, enabling a complete solution. For testing where calculations are very specific to your own requirements, it is simple to create custom criteria using the drag-and-drop functions.

VectorPro delivers outstanding control of the motor, whilst simultaneously collecting data at 500 Hz from the ELS loadcell and the displacement encoder of the frame.

The software is intuitive for both operators and managers. Personalised user accounts and a streamlined design mean that the workflow is simple and it is easy to create step-by-step test methods according to the precise requirements of your applications.

Access to the most commonly used test methods enables operators to move seamlessly from task to task, keeping training time to a minimum.

At the end of the test, the comprehensive reporting module within VectorPro enables the operator to issue a test report as a PDF. An extensive suite of template reports can be easily tailored to your internal or your customer's exact requirements and be automatically emailed to them as an HTML file. Test data can also be exported to Excel or to the network for further analysis.

VectorPro generates a clear audit trail with electronic-signature functionality - a must for medical and pharmaceutical clients seeking compliance to FDA 21 CFR Part 11.

Fixtures

Texture analysis or mechanical testing for sensory texture attributes are based on seven fundamental methods.

These test types can replicate all of the interactions between a consumer and the product, or the production processing and handling equipment.

Our texture analyzers and testing fixtures are designed to ensure reliable testing, whatever method you use to measure the texture of your products.

Our in-house engineers can also develop and manufacture customized fixtures and bespoke solutions.
